Nansia: Weaver of Fates

Step into the threads of fate.

Meet Nansia, Weaver of Fates, a visionary oracle born from the fusion of ancient myth and high fantasy. Inspired by the Oracle of Delphi and the West African spider god Anansi, she is a cunning seer who reads and manipulates the iridescent Mana Web that binds all things. Designed for the world of Magic: The Gathering’s Theros, Nansia isn’t just a character, she’s a living story waiting to be played.

In the World of Theros, Stories Shape Reality.

And no one tells them quite like Nansia.

A mystic born under the twin omens of starlight and shadow, Nansia is more than a seer. She is the living loom of fate, weaving futures and unraveling secrets through an unseen force known as the Mana Web, a radiant, metaphysical tapestry that connects all life, magic, and myth.

Half Oracle. Half Spider. Entirely Dangerous.

Though mortal, Nansia walks among the divine - respected, feared, and consulted. Her worshipers call her “The Spinner” and bring offerings of silk and secrets. No god governs her; instead, she governs the strands they cannot see. Where gods demand loyalty, Nansia offers foresight. And that, in Theros, is power.

Behind the Design: Where Philosophy Meets Gameplay

The goal in crafting Nansia was to interlace ancient philosophy with cross-cultural storytelling. The Oracle of Delphi speaks to fate as an immutable force. Anansi flips that on its head, using wit and story to reshape destiny.

The result is a character who isn’t just part of Theros. She’s a commentary on it, on how we tell stories, who gets to tell them, and what happens when the spider on the web starts pulling the strings.

Follow her story. Play her fate.
And beware, because once you see the threads, you’ll never unsee them.
